MFÍK est un mouvement de femmes fondé en 1951. 
MFÍK est le plus ancient mouvement pacifiste en Islande. Le mouvement a joué un rôle active contre la base Americaine et contre l’armement atomique. 
Depuis des années MFÍK a regroupée plusieurs associations pour féter le 8 mars, la Journée Internationale des Femmes. Souvent le debat ouvert à cette occasion a accelleré des changements dans la societé islandaise. 
MFÍK est affiliée à la Fédération Démocratique Internationale des Femmes (FDIF) qui regroupe 600 associations dans 104 pays à travers le monde. La FDIF a pour particularité d'unir les femmes pauvres du Sud comme du Nord, de rassembler des femmes très diverses partout dans le monde. Elles s'organisent contre les violences, pour un développement durable et pour un plus juste partage des richesses et des pouvoirs.
La FDIF est une ONG qui bénéficie d'un statut consultatif auprès de l'ONU et du Bureau International du Travail.

MFÍK - Menningar- og friðarsamtök íslenskra kvenna som blev oprettet i 1951 er en kvindeorganisation for fred og ligeberettigelse.
Som den ældste virksomme fredsrörelse i Island har MFÍK været stærkt engageret i kampen mod atomvaaben og mod den amerikanske base paa Island .
MFÍK har spillet hovedrolle i at fejre 8.marts i Island og i modsætning til erfaring i mange andre lande har dagens betydning vokset I Island.
MFÍK har fra begyndelsen været anslutted til Kvinders Demokratiske Verdensforbund. I de senere aar har MFIK haft nærest kontakt med Femmes Solidaires i Frankrig, samt nogle andre organisationer i det internationale netværk.


MFÍK is the oldest Icelandic peace organization, active since 1951. It is a grass-root organization, an NGO totally unbound whether organizational, monetary or otherwise.
The main aims of the association are: World peace and disarmement – sovereignty of small nations – Iceland ’s neutrality in war – resistance against US military bases in Iceland – human rights and equality – frienship between women in the World – protection and rights of children - culture promotion.
MFÍK is recognized for its radical views and has kept a steady focus on its aims, often closing ranks with others working for the same course. 
Each year MFÍK takes the initiative in celebrating the Women’s Day the 8th March. 
MFÍK has from the start been affiliated to the Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF) which unites 600 associations from 104 countries and has UNESCO status B, United Nations (ECOSOC) Status 1 and is on the ILO Special List.
